What the site is

HMV Mania is a free English-language site for hentai music videos (HMVs) and anime music videos (AMVs), and a visitor can watch the whole archive without paying; no page carries a price, a premium tier or a paywall. The home page says "On this site you'll find more than 6,000 videos from over 1,000 creators", and invites visitors to "Search Hentai Music Videos (HMVs) and AMVs!" The About page describes a site "dedicated to anime and hentai music videos, allowing for nudity", built so that the people who edit these videos have somewhere to post them. It is a maker community first and a video library second, which shapes everything else on it.

The free offer

Everything here is a music video set to animation, posted by the person who edited it. The About page draws the line between the two kinds the site hosts, noting that the usual way to tell an AMV from an HMV is whether genitals are shown. Every video is credited to its maker, whose name sits in brackets at the front of each title, and each entry shows a view count and how long ago it was posted.

The menu sorts the archive by type: 2D Videos, HMV, AMV and 3D, with a Genre List, an HMV Makers List and a Challenge page beside them. The home page lists "The 40 most recent videos published to the site", mixing the HMV, AMV and 3D categories, and points 2D-only viewers to their own page. "Top 50 videos now has its own dedicated page", so a newcomer can start with what the community has watched most. A welcome trailer opens the home page, and posts in the feed that come from the 3D section are marked "(3D)" in their titles. The feed shows a steady flow of new posts, several within the same few hours, and the week-old posts at the bottom of the list show between 372 and 477 views, which gives a fair sense of the audience a new edit finds here. Titles in Dutch and Spanish turn up among the English ones.

The 3D section is the largest single archive on show. Its listing runs to 56 pages ("3d Archives - Page 2 of 56"), in the same maker-credited format, and the posts on that second page each show between 1048 and 1600 views.

Playback has one quirk the site explains itself. Some files are encoded in AV1, and the home page warns: "If some videos say source not found, this is because your device and/or browser does not support playing AV1-encoded videos out of the box." Each video post carries a DL link to the video file itself, so a visitor whose browser cannot play a clip can open the file directly instead. The community is the second half of the site, and its forums carry the membership the site belongs to as a community. The Forums Archive is split into Site Discussion (Feedback, Resources and Updates), Media and Chit Chat (General, Memes and Pictures), and HMV Discussion (Creative Corner, Genres, HMV Suggestions and Links). A separate Funscripts area serves owners of interactive devices, which the forum explains as "text files that tell a device what position to move to next and how quickly". Site Discussion is the busiest board, with 18 topics and 80 posts, and its last post was "1 month, 2 weeks ago". HMV Discussion holds 15 topics and 20 posts, last active "8 months, 3 weeks ago", and is where members trade suggestions, talk about genres and share links. The Media and Chit Chat boards last saw a post "3 years, 11 months ago", and the Funscripts area holds 3 topics. A second forum on the Community page reports "1,296 Members" but no topics yet.

Accounts exist and are optional for watching. The header carries a log-in box, a Sign Up link and a password reset, and the community forum adds notifications and a recent-posts view for members. Makers have their own corner: a For Creators page, a Tutorials page and a Challenge page sit in the main menu, and a Blog heads the menu.

Where free stops, and the rules

There is no paid tier on any page: no premium, no tokens, no subscription and no locked video. Everything the menu lists is open.

The site does not describe how it pays for itself or whether it runs ads.

The About page is the site's statement of intent, and it is unusually frank. It argues that mainstream video sites remove anything with nudity, so makers are pushed onto adult tubes, and it says those tubes have handled DMCA claims against makers badly, vandalized their accounts and demanded real-life photo verification that puts their privacy at risk. It also recalls a large tube's December 2020 wipe of "around 80% of the site's videos", which took popular HMVs and their makers' accounts with it; that loss is the reason the site gives for existing. HMV Mania presents itself as the answer: "a safer space where HMV makers can share their videos, with a community that actually cares rather than bowing down to corporate atmospheres." Those are the site's own words and its own case.

The rules for makers live on an HMV Guidelines page linked from the footer, beside a Mission Statement, a Goals page and a Privacy Policy. Every page carries the statement "All characters depicted in video and manga are at least 18 years old. No actual minor was used in the creation of these works." The site does not say how a removal request from a rights holder is handled. It names no operator or company; the footer reads "Copyright © 2025 HMV Mania", and a Twitter account is linked from the About page.

Who it suits

HMV Mania suits a viewer who likes music-driven edits rather than full episodes: short, maker-credited videos sorted into 2D, 3D, HMV and AMV, all free and all credited. It suits makers most of all, since the site was built for them, with tutorials, challenges, a makers list and an About page that sides openly with creators. Owners of interactive devices get a small funscripts board of their own.

The caveats are practical. AV1 files will not play in every browser, so some visitors will need the DL link to watch. The forums are quiet, with most boards months or years past their last post. A visitor who wants full-length hentai episodes will find only edits here.

The strength is focus and ownership: one format, credited to the people who make it, offered free on a site that explains in its own voice why it exists.
