What the site is

JustUsBoys is an English-language gay community built around a message board forum, and registering and posting there are free. Its own pages call it "The World's Largest Gay Message Board Community", and the masthead reads "Free Gay Movies and Photos". The forum comes first. Members post in topic threads, share their own photos and clips, and talk in areas the rules set aside for amateur content. What the forums hold is therefore mostly what members post, plus the short preview clips the rules allow. The rules keep full-length copyrighted films off the servers.

The register banner reads "100% FREE", next to a promise that the site will never sell members' information, and the Code of Conduct says the owner provides the forum without a membership fee. That is the core of the free offer. The site names no charge for joining or for taking part in the open forums.

The free offer

The forum is the library, and the forum sections are its organization. The header menu offers Forums, New posts, Featured content and Latest activity. The sections the help pages name include Make Friends, where new members introduce themselves, and Fun and Games, which the FAQ describes as a place where many members interact. Technical questions go to Site Help, and members can reach the volunteer moderators in Ask the Moderator, a forum that only the member and the moderators can see.

Each forum carries its own posting guidelines in a group of sticky threads, and the rules ask members to read them before posting any video. The FAQ also mentions a list of Never Allowed Content, made up of material that people or organizations have asked never to see posted on the forum. Some sub-forums are run as no-flame zones meant for constructive discussion, where personal attacks are never allowed. Others are marked "Mostly Safe for Work", and images of sexual activity or frontal nudity are not posted there.

Amateur content has its own areas. The Code of Conduct says members may post self-images in the forum, on their profile and in personal galleries and albums, and every participant in an amateur image or video must have given permission before it goes up. Intimate images of other people are a separate matter, covered further down.

Video is shared by attaching it to a post or linking to it, and the rules ask members to post content into the forum directly rather than send people to offsite chat sites. They allow links to short previews or teaser previews. They prohibit full-length copyrighted videos on the servers, and they bar links to streaming, file-sharing or tube services that host full-length copyrighted material. A photo posted in the forums may link only to a full-size version of itself. The site describes no built-in video library, quality setting or playlist, so the gay content here is what members bring to the threads.

Registration is free. A member must keep a working email address on the account, an automated email confirms it, and the FAQ says disposable addresses are not accepted. The FAQ also says some sign-ups are rejected by its anti-spam screening, and it points anyone turned away in error to the Contact Us form.

Once in, the account has limits at first. The FAQ says new members cannot do some things, such as send messages to other members, until the forum's automation treats them as trusted after they post. Members can edit a post for a limited period. After that, the Report link on the post asks a moderator to edit or delete it. Direct messages stay out of view of the bots that scan the public forum for names and phone numbers, which is why the rules keep personal details out of public areas.

Account actions include a vacation setting that inactivates an account while keeping its private conversations. Deletion and username changes are requested through Ask the Moderator, and a username change takes 2 choices in order of preference.

The terms list member homepages, conversations, chat and personals among the service's offerings, along with webmail. The site can also be installed as a web app on an iPhone home screen, and a note says that feature requires opening the site in Safari.

Where free stops, and the rules

The site describes no premium tier, subscription price, token package or paid level for members. The one commercial route it names is for businesses. A company that wants to link to its own site must be a JUB Sponsor, use the forum's official redirect link, and ask for details through a support ticket. The help menu lists a page titled "What is a JUB Supporter?", and the terms and rules give no cost for either role. Members may not sell items or raise funds in the forums, and a personal link in a signature needs a reciprocal link back to JustUsBoys or one of its sister properties, one link per signature.

Advertising is described in the site's own terms. The terms say the service "may include advertisements" and that "these advertisements are necessary for JustUsBoys.com to provide the Service". Dealings with advertisers are, in the terms' words, solely between the member and the advertiser.

On uploads, the terms say the site does not pre-screen content, but it may refuse or move anything, and it may remove material that breaks the terms or is otherwise objectionable. The Code of Conduct says the site may remove user-created or uploaded content at any time, without notice. Members who break the rules may be warned, suspended or permanently removed, and a banned member who opens a new account has the IP blocked.

Licenses depend on where content is posted. For anything a member posts on the message boards or a member homepage, the license lasts only while the content stays up. The same limit applies to photos, audio and video posted elsewhere on the service. Text posted in other public areas comes with a "perpetual, irrevocable" license.

On copyright, the terms set out a notice procedure: a signature, a description of the work and where it appears, contact details, a good-faith statement and a statement made under penalty of perjury. Notices go to a copyright agent named in the terms, a support request gets the fastest response, and the site says it may disable the accounts of repeat infringers.

On intimate images, the Code of Conduct allows images that show another person only with that person's explicit consent, and a consent statement must accompany them. Images without a stated consent are removed, and a breach can lead to a permanent ban. Revealing the real identity of another member or of an adult performer without permission is banned too.

On age, the rule is adults only, 18 and over. The Code of Conduct says the site disables access for anyone it confirms or strongly suspects of being below that age, and it tells members not to post any image unless they can tell the person was over 18 when it was taken. The site does not say how it checks the ages of people who post, and it publishes no record-keeping statement.

On privacy and law, the FAQ calls the forum a private community and says it never shares members' personal information with other companies or with internet aggregators. The terms are governed by Nevada law, with the courts of Washoe County, Nevada as the forum. The terms name no operating company beyond JustUsBoys.com and its affiliated companies, and the trademark clause lists the slogan "The Back Door To The Gay Web".

One technical note appears in the Code of Conduct: the site says it uses filtering mechanisms that stop properly configured browsers from reaching it, and it points parents to instructions for blocking it.

Who it suits, and who it does not

It suits a gay man who wants a community with threads, introductions and games, and who wants to read and talk without paying. It suits someone who would rather see what members share than browse a studio library, and someone who wants to post his own pictures under clear consent rules. An iPhone user can add it to the home screen as a web app.

It does not suit someone after a browsable film library or full-length scenes. The site offers none, and the rules bar full-length copyrighted uploads and links to them. A member who wants to share studio video is limited to short previews.

The terms also say the site will change in future so that a member must log in to view adult content, and they cite US Supreme Court rulings on adult content as the reason. No date is given for that change. New members face the trust limits described above, and sign-ups that fail the anti-spam screening or use disposable addresses are refused. The moderators are volunteers who check open reports periodically, so a request to delete a post can take some time.

The strength is how plainly the rules are written. Before joining, a visitor can read exactly what may be posted, what gets removed and how a copyright or consent complaint is handled, and the banner says sign-up costs nothing.
